Stereotypes in Teen Movies

In most Teen Movies, they all include very similar characters and themes of drugs, alcohol, high school, parties and exposed to sex. This has become the 'norm' in this generation, especially in America.

Most Teen Movies include characters such as;

The Jock - who are a group of athletes who are the school's 'celebrities' and include only one male who is the 'hottie'. All girls seem to crush on this one guy, however he ends up dating the head cheerleader as a term of 'status'. This means that the head of the Jock is unlikely to date someone who isn't well known in the school as she would be a 'downgrade' of him.

The Head Cheerleader - this character is mostly the popular girl of the school that most girls wish to be like. She normally has other cheer mates that follow her around the school but aren't as popular. The character also tents to be a bully towards students and sees herself as royalty to the school. In most Teen Movies, this normally backfires and something drastic happens causing her not to be popular.

The Geek/Nerd - is dressed in odd/old clothing with big glasses and are always seen carrying loads of books. This character is normally the Jock's victim and is always bullied by them. In odd occasions, you do hear them trying to use 'hip' language to the Jocks but are always portrayed as idiots when they do say something to try and fit in.
