During the half term, we completed our first part of our filming process. As we needed a scene in a bedroom, we decided to film at Jaya's house as it was the most convenient thing to do at the time.
Mise en scene was a major part in portraying the role as a psycho in this part of the filming. As the character is filmed by herself, we decided to include a lot of objects such as pills, sharp objects and matches to emphasis her illness when she is by herself. This character was played by me so as part of the costumes, I wore a onsie which would be suitable as I was supposed to be home alone. In the room, we also put up pictures of the guy the charater is interested in and stuck them to the wall. Using a match, we used that to show the pictures during the filming to make it more serious and intimate. Even though this is a fire hazard during filming, we made sure we all didn't get distracted and paid attention while filming. This is so no harm was caused.
Another way we made this effective was adujsting the lighting in the room. We wanted the scene to look more scary and mysterious so we limited the light to a lamp and a few candles, as well as the light from the matches. We had a few issues with the focusing of the camera and the dim lights didn't help. To resolve this issue, we continued to refilm certain shots but then worked out that some of the blurrings were effective in specific shots. We all had to work co-operatively and remain on task in order for all of this to be successful.
